Random little pieces of me.

one week in..

My first week at my new job went great!! I absolutely love it there! The commute is taking some getting used to, and learning the differences between them and my old paper.. but otherwise it’s been great! I definitely miss some of the people at my old job, but I otherwise like my new job much better! :D

That’s all she wrote..

Well last night was my last night at work! It was definitely a great 3+ years and I’m really going to miss it (the place - not necessarily what I did lol).

Luckily my new job is in the same company (just another location) so I will still be in contact with my co-workers and will hopefully still see them outside of work. We went out last night for a friend’s birthday and combined it into a little going away shindig for me. It was definitely a great, great time. :)

I’m sad for this chapter to end, but I learned a lot and I’m so excited for the next step in my career - which starts tomorrow!! yay!! :D

run Forrest, run!

So tonight I’m starting the “couch to 5K” program to train myself to do a 5k. Call it a late resolution perhaps, I’ve always said I wanted to do one but just made excuses not to (oh I have work that day, its raining, etc.), but this will finally be the year I do it.

I genuinely like walking and running because I feel it helps relieve stress. So this shouldn’t be too hard, right? haha, we’ll see…

(also - I couldn’t help but throw in the cheesy Forrest Gump reference. I love that movie!)

Goodbye 2011..

Tonight I will be spending the last night of 2011 with my best friends! (can’t wait).. but for now I am focusing on my resolutions for 2012!

Looking back I realized that I usually make the same resolutions every year, sometimes I make progress on them, sometimes not. This year I hope to:

  • Get Healthier. I do make a little progress on this each year. In 2011 I was able to lose a little weight and actually keep it off, and I have started to drink more water, but this year I want to take that even further. I want to make healthier choices and get myself into an exercise routine and stick with it. I know I usually feel better physically and mentally when I’m more active. I’m not putting a number on it (like I want to lose xx lbs or run xx miles) I just want to feel better.
  • Become more confident and stand up for myself more. I also make this resolution each year and usually make small strides on it. This year I just want to keep making those strides.
  • Save more money. Though I usually save a good chunk of my paychecks, I want to make this a resolution this year to remind me to save even more. Admittedly, sometimes I spend money on things I don’t need.
  • Get a better job. This is also a new resolution. I want to either finally get a promotion at my current job or find a new job within my field. My current position was supposed to be entry level and I feel like its become a dead-end job. I will change that this year. I need to.

And those are my resolutions. Hopefully when I look back on my list a year from now I can say I accomplished them all.

All in all I have to say 2011 was a pretty okay year. It wasn’t great (I’ve definitely had better years) but it wasn’t that bad either. 2011 had some awesome moments for me: I went to London, graduated from college and got back in touch with some old friends. 2011 was pretty good, but I’m hoping 2012 will be pretty great! :)

Happy New Year everyone!!

Merry Christmas!

I had the best Christmas! I got lots of good gifts (including a waffle maker - which sounds lame but I really wanted one). And I apparently also gave good gifts since everybody seemed to like what I got them (I stress too much about that). I got to spend time with some family (before heading into work) and will continue to do so over the next few days :) I love Christmas!

Merry Christmas!!

random post is random

Tonight is Election Night, which is a journalist’s most and least favorite day to work. Yep. and I’m working at least a 10-hr shift because I have to attend a 1.5 hour webinar. who schedules a webinar on Election Day?? argh. Oh well, the major plus side to Election Night: Media Night at one of the local bars. Heck Yes.

In other news - I am going to see Fitz and the Tantrums in Philly on Saturday! so excited!! :D

My cherry blossom tattoo I got last Sunday. There is no deep significance behind this tattoo, I just love cherry blossom trees. They have such beautiful flowers. I love how it came out. It was drawn freehand right onto me, which made me nervous at first but I’m so happy with how it came out. It’s my second tattoo and may be my favorite so far - but I love my first one too though so its hard to choose. :)

Me.

I realized that I have had my tumblr for over a year and I don’t think I’ve ever posted a picture of myself. I’m not really sure why.

This photo was taken Friday night at my university’s spring fling dinner/dance! My friend and I realized that we’re seniors and never really went to any big school events. So we went.. and subsequently learned why we never went before. Was a bit lame - mostly younger kids we didn’t know lol.. but we were able to laugh it off and have a great time anyway..

So that’s me. I’m not perfect. I have many flaws. But I am who I am, and frankly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. :)
