one week in..
My first week at my new job went great!! I absolutely love it there! The commute is taking some getting used to, and learning the differences between them and my old paper.. but otherwise it’s been great! I definitely miss some of the people at my old job, but I otherwise like my new job much better! :D
That’s all she wrote..
Well last night was my last night at work! It was definitely a great 3+ years and I’m really going to miss it (the place - not necessarily what I did lol).
Luckily my new job is in the same company (just another location) so I will still be in contact with my co-workers and will hopefully still see them outside of work. We went out last night for a friend’s birthday and combined it into a little going away shindig for me. It was definitely a great, great time. :)
I’m sad for this chapter to end, but I learned a lot and I’m so excited for the next step in my career - which starts tomorrow!! yay!! :D
getting closer..
My parents are taking me out to dinner tonight to celebrate my new job!
Last night at the current job is Saturday and I start Monday at the new job!! So excited!
Finally!
So after 3+ years in my current entry-level position, I was finally offered a promotion on Friday!! It was for the job I interviewed for earlier in the week! I am finally a copy editor!! I’m so excited!! I can’t leave my current job until they replace me (my boss is hoping for two weeks, but I have my doubts) but I may start at my new job this week on my days off! :)
And other good news - my niece came home from the hospital this week, which meant that today I finally got to hold her for the first time!! I’m such a happy auntie. <3
:)
run Forrest, run!
So tonight I’m starting the “couch to 5K” program to train myself to do a 5k. Call it a late resolution perhaps, I’ve always said I wanted to do one but just made excuses not to (oh I have work that day, its raining, etc.), but this will finally be the year I do it.
I genuinely like walking and running because I feel it helps relieve stress. So this shouldn’t be too hard, right? haha, we’ll see…
(also - I couldn’t help but throw in the cheesy Forrest Gump reference. I love that movie!)
Goodbye 2011..
Tonight I will be spending the last night of 2011 with my best friends! (can’t wait).. but for now I am focusing on my resolutions for 2012!
Looking back I realized that I usually make the same resolutions every year, sometimes I make progress on them, sometimes not. This year I hope to:
- Get Healthier. I do make a little progress on this each year. In 2011 I was able to lose a little weight and actually keep it off, and I have started to drink more water, but this year I want to take that even further. I want to make healthier choices and get myself into an exercise routine and stick with it. I know I usually feel better physically and mentally when I’m more active. I’m not putting a number on it (like I want to lose xx lbs or run xx miles) I just want to feel better.
- Become more confident and stand up for myself more. I also make this resolution each year and usually make small strides on it. This year I just want to keep making those strides.
- Save more money. Though I usually save a good chunk of my paychecks, I want to make this a resolution this year to remind me to save even more. Admittedly, sometimes I spend money on things I don’t need.
- Get a better job. This is also a new resolution. I want to either finally get a promotion at my current job or find a new job within my field. My current position was supposed to be entry level and I feel like its become a dead-end job. I will change that this year. I need to.
And those are my resolutions. Hopefully when I look back on my list a year from now I can say I accomplished them all.
All in all I have to say 2011 was a pretty okay year. It wasn’t great (I’ve definitely had better years) but it wasn’t that bad either. 2011 had some awesome moments for me: I went to London, graduated from college and got back in touch with some old friends. 2011 was pretty good, but I’m hoping 2012 will be pretty great! :)
Happy New Year everyone!!
Merry Christmas!
I had the best Christmas! I got lots of good gifts (including a waffle maker - which sounds lame but I really wanted one). And I apparently also gave good gifts since everybody seemed to like what I got them (I stress too much about that). I got to spend time with some family (before heading into work) and will continue to do so over the next few days :) I love Christmas!
Merry Christmas!!
Always thankful.
So I realized in the hecticness of the holiday, I never posted what I’m thankful for on Thanksgiving, which is actually ok because I am thankful everyday. I am thankful for my family and friends, for my health, for the fact that I even have a job (even if that place frustrates me) and I am also quite thankful for my twin nieces on the way. :)
It was a good Thanksgiving. Spent time with my family. Worked. Spent time with my friends at the bar. Good times indeed. <3
Oh and I did not go Black Friday shopping - too crazy for me, plus I’m done with Christmas shopping already. I did however do some online shopping Thursday and scored an $80 pair of boots for $20 from JCPenney and also a hoodie (originally $50 but I paid $20) for my brother’s birthday (which is in February - yes I plan ahead), plus I got free shipping. score!
Concert round 2
GNR tonight! excited!!
